The Learning Center

TLC Team / Full-Time Position

The Learning Center Assistant Director will work closely with The Learning Center Director at the South Campus. They will educate parents, teachers, and leaders on the value of early childhood education and make that value come to life for the children in the center. The sole responsibility is for the safe and effective operation of the school. This is a full-time (40 hour/week) position that includes office hours, as well as non-traditional and occasional evening hours, as needed. This position will report directly to the South Campus Learning Center Director.

The Assistant Director must exhibit the following three traits:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Learning Center Director in leading teaching staff, supporting the families, and achieving enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards of children and staff
  • Participate in managing local and state licensing and regulations and ensure state compliance and record keeping
  • Participate in the leadership team of the center, maintaining great morale and addressing staffing issues in a prompt and responsive manner
  • Ensure appropriate center staffing, new hire training, and on-going staff development
  • Enforce school policies and procedures
  • Supervise and assist staff in early childhood curriculum
  • Regularly monitor each classroom and provide ongoing feedback to teachers
  • Provide effective tours to potential families to drive enrollment
  • Partner with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children
  • Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, and state licensing authorities
  • Serve in various roles throughout the center as needed including teacher
  • Oversee the purchasing of supplies, tuition billings and collections
  • Help oversee the curriculum, manage personnel, and execute the centers high standards of excellence

Knowledge/Skills Required:

To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required:

  • Experience in child-care center management
  • Possess or be able to obtain prior to employment a Texas Child Care Director’s License through DFPS Child Care Licensing
  • Excellent staff management skills
  • Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification prior to employment
  • Very thorough knowledge of Texas State Licensing
  • Revenue and enrollment orientated
  • Demonstrated strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to concentrate on multiple tasks at a time
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle stress and perform well under pressure
  • Participate in moderate & vigorous activity
  • Professional demeanor
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Is available to parents at their convenience-listens attentively to their concerns and takes appropriate action
  • Maintains retention of families by implementing quality programs
  • Track all inquiries, converts inquiries into parent tours, and converts tours into enrollments
  • Accurately reports withdrawals and new starts weekly
  • Conducts parent meetings and other conferences
  • Regularly solicits feedback from parents in order to improve the center
  • Bulletin Boards (theme)
  • Must be able to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Must possess the ability to produce in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess a “can-do” attitude with the ability to multi-task
  • Must exhibit a professional and pleasant demeanor
  • High School Diploma
  • 3- 4 years’ experience

  • Must be 18 years of age and have valid State Driver’s License
  • Must pass background/criminal history check
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
